A Little about Taye

My earliest memory is flashing blue and red lights, sitting at the top of the stairs in the lap of my uncles girlfriend while my older cousin sat next to us. I can close my eyes and see the wood paneling on the walls. The ambulance and patrol car's lights flashing against the front windows of my Nanny and Pawpaw's house. The first house I would call home. I don't have any other memories of that night, just a snippet of time sitting at the top of the stairs. I wasn't even two years old that night. It's a hell of a first memory. Give or take 35 years later I told my mom about it. She was able to confirm it as a true memory. She also filled in the rest of the story. Apologizing that I even had that small moment etched in to my brain. Now almost 40 years I am able to look back at my early childhood with happy memories. Playing with my cousins, walking the woods with my PawPaw and afternoons spent in Nanny's kitchen. A time I will forever miss. As an adult I have had more than my share of scary moments. I have stood toe to toe with a man, who decided pulling out a loaded pistol was a good idea. I stood there not backing down trying to calm him as he yelled at me to sit down and shut up. I have been followed in stores and out to my car late at night while I was alone. I have been harassed, and groped by strangers. I have trusted people I should not have. "I grew up around addicts, alcoholics and abusers. In all honesty I feel safer in a sketchy corner store than a high class one any day. That alone causes Michael to worry about me. I have been emotionally manipulated, mentally abused and exactly one man was ballsy enough to slap me. I have been made the villain in several peoples stories, we call those people narcissists and I called them on their bullshit. I wanted to do this podcast because despite it all I survived. I may have anxiety and depression but baby I survived. Now it is my turn to share the stories of those who were taken too soon. To show that they are more than a victim. They were and still are a human being." All that being said, I truly hope you enjoy our show. Zach and I will do our absolute best to share these stories with accuracy, heart and a little dark humor. Always with the utmost respect to the victims and their families.

Thank you for listening.
